This course aims to give exposure to the background knowledge of the community, such as sociology, politics, religion, economic, organizational, communication, ethnicity and so forth. It will also elaborate on the development and distribution of human knowledge that lead to the formation of disciplines of other sciences. In addition, this course will also discuss basic concepts, ideas and general theories of social science disciplines which aim to increase knowledge and understanding of students relating to current issues that exist in their living environment.

This course emphasizes on theories and development in third world countries. it highlights various types of theories and the importance of theories in third world development process. The course also provides an insights into some of the major problems faced by third world countries in implementing their development programs. By the end of the course, students will be exposed to a variety of theories and concepts of development in third world countries.
GMJT2013 Sociology Of Development
The course focuses on the elementary issues of sociology and development. it will lead students to apply the sociological perspective in dealing with development issues among the issues are poverty, unemployment and inequality. it creates awareness among students to focus on social aspects of development which is one of the major contributing factors to the success and failure of the overall development of a country.
GMJT2063 Philosophy Of Development
This course presents a different approach of development as compared to the conventional development concept. The introduction to the islamic perspective in development is necessary in order to provide a complete understanding of the islamic principles in the development which includes the studies of the development in politics, socio-economics, governances and development management environments. By taking into account of the changes that will come in future, the course is able to show that islam as a way of life not only in line with the development, but also encourage the process and its existence. Hence, by focusing to the basic terms of the spirit of islam, the course serve as an alternative studies to western development model.

The course will guide students to understand some of the basic concepts, theories and measurements of development. It also discusses various development strategies applied by various developing countries and evaluates the overall impacts of the strategies based on their development management. This course discusses the theories, concepts and processes of urbanization and industrialization particularly in some developing countries and malaysia. Urbanization and industrialization have a symbiotic relationship that often depend on and support each other. Students will be exposed to new concepts and approaches to various development concepts such as an integrated urban development, balanced development and sustainable urbanization trend-industrialization future so as to provide a new direction towards an alternative approach to dealing with the effects of development more effectively.
GMJT2043 Methods In Development Plan Preparation
This course exposes students to the national development policy with supported management and control mechanism especially under 172 act, the town & country planning act 1976. Under similar act, students will learn the process, approach and guideline to design development plans either for the government or private sector. The course mainly focuses on the process of preparation rancangan struktur negeri (rsn), rancangan tempatan daerah (rtd) and rancangan kawasan khas (rkk) by the government as well as development plans prepared by private sector. Emphasis is also given to the importance of inputs for these development plans with respects to sectoral studies such as housing, transportation, environment, industry, tourism, etc. Students will also learn data collection and analysis techniques to undertake these studies..
GMJT 3013 Organizing Organizations
Development that occurs in the community today are not only involves government agencies alone, but also involves other parties who played some of their important roles. These include NGOs, private sector and the affected population. This course will introduce the motion-work community development, community leadership style, organizational structure and examples of community-motion work that has been practiced throughout the country. This course also exposes students to issues in community development and how certain parties play their role in the national development agenda.
GMJT3023 Social Values And Ethics In Development
One important aspect in the study of the development is the issues of social and ethical values. To obtain a balanced sustainable development in our daily life, components such as social values and ethics are very important role to be studied. Therefore, this course aims to expose students to the concept of social values and ethics in the context of community development. This course also aims to expose students some of the principles of social and ethical values that contribute to the improvement of community development, particularly in environmental management. Thus, this course will also focus on and discussion of solutions to some of social values and ethics issues in general and in particular, the various aspects of development in the country.
GMJT3133 Gender And Development
This course focuses specifically on gender and development and explains the connections between women and men. This course also explore the equality between women and men or gender equality through feminist perspectives and give the chance to the students debate the best practice and new ideas and also to make the links between theoretical and practical about gender. Students will learn the basic concepts about gender and development and the most important issues and problems that women in the third world facing like poverty, lower education, making decisions, fewer rights, less income, less access to resources, and health status.
GMJT3113 Environmental Management
The aim of this course is to provide an integrated understanding of the relationship between development and environment. It also examines the environmental impacts of development projects and strategies to accomplish a sustainable development. Students will learn the basic concepts of environment and the most important environmental problem which are deforestation, urbanization, industrialization, water pollution, air pollution, environmental hazards and so on. The overall objective is to give comprehensive knowledge of environmental issues and problems to the students and how to solve it.
GMJT3124 Regional Development
This course will introduce students the processes and issues in regional development. Students will be introduced to the theories of regional development and the existence of inequality in some of the regional development areas. Regional planning can bring several meanings to different people. There are those who view the economic aspects of regional planning in connection with the distribution of resources between regions, while others, see the plan as a planning area of social development, economic and physical aspects of land use. In this course, students will be exposed to the analysis of regional plans, project strategies, prospects for regional development planning and the importance of reducing income disparities in such areas. This course will also expose students to understand the reasons behind the efforts to develop some of the poor and underdeveloped areas by referring to experiences from the developing countries.

This course exposes students to various approaches in public and private project management. Project management has become more complex in all aspects such as in project financing, social implications and organizational functions. Therefore it is viable for a project manager in public and private sector to have the required skills to plan and managing development projects.
GMJP3123 Land Development Administration
This course is about land administration and development practiced in malaysia. The focus includes the land administration systems such as land alienation, land registration, type of land title, land ownership transfer, blockade and land development process that included land conversion, land subdivion and land amalgamation. Another exposure is about development agencies that involve in land development and land acquisition process by the government for development purpose. Other issues such as the development of malay reserve area, wakaf land, and temporary occupation license will be discussed.
GMJP3133 Project Financing
This course aims to provide knowledge relating to the process of obtaining loans for the purpose of financing the development projects, be it in public or private sector agencies. Students are exposed to the principles of lending and financing sources from various lending institutions. This course also exposes students to prepare a feasibility study for the purpose of obtaining financing from financial institutions.

This course aims to provide knowledge in the planning of infrastructure in the project development. The course will expose students to various approaches particularly the procurement method and delivery systems such as the public-private partnership (ppp), private finance initiative (pfi), the build-operate and transfer (bot), joint- venture (jv), privatization and others. This course provides guidance and exposure to students related to the use of computer aided design software (cad) in construction management. The main emphasis of the course is to enable students to apply autocad software in two dimensions (2d) and three dimensional (3d) in the production of technical drawings especially in the design and construction management.

This course will introduce students to the management aspects of landscape components in the planning of development projects. Students will be exposed to the roles and responsibilities of professionals in the planning and execution of landscape projects by local authorities and state governments.
GMJP3113 Planning Analysis And Development Control
This course introduces students to the use of quantitative methods in analysing, forecasting and evaluating physical planning and socio-economic in a local authority. Population projection techniques and housing needs of families are the main focus of this course. Models in forecasting the patterns of economic activity, demand for employment, occupational distribution and income distribution are also discussed. Students are expected to understand the process of preparation of proposed development report (lcp) and the need to provide such report. This course will also introduces the students the importance of development control and development control techniques that have been a practiced in the country.

This course exposes students to various aspects of national development policies. The course will touch on the process of making the national development policy and actors who play important role in making policy. Most of the discussions will lead students to understand the role of government, especially public organizations that involved in designing and implementing national development policy. The course will look at some administrative reforms undertaken by the government to update and strengthen the existing development policies in the country. Futhermore, this course will also discuss the implementation of policies carried out by several agencies such as rural development agencies, the urban development agencies, privatization and corporatization agencies.

Environmental psychology is a field of study on human behavior which is interconnected between the surrounding environment. This course discusses the theory of behavior and environmental relations that cover topics such as environmental perception, cognitive environment and evaluation. Application of psychological concepts is discussed in the context of environmental issues such as natural environment, congestion, building designs and recreational as well as urban areas.
GMJC3363 Social Impact Assessment (SIA)
Social impact assessment (sia) is a method of analyzing the effects of development on the community’s livelihood strategies. Sia course involves attention to the characteristics of a number of environmental conditions and predicts changes due to the activities carried out in the community. Discussions were also made on the social processes and issues of social participation and institutional development.
