SINTOK - Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in collaboration with the Student Representatives Council (SRC), Student Associations and the Council of Presidents of the Student Leadership and Development Committee (JKPS) of UUM Student Residential Halls (INASIS), is currently in the process of developing a comprehensive guideline for organising entertainment and concert activities.
According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, the guidelines for entertainment activities and concerts have already been established. However, it is necessary to develop a comprehensive formulation that considers the majority of the students’ agreement.
"As part of our commitment to empowering students, the Department of Student Affairs consistently provides opportunities and avenues for student organisations to express their perspectives on the existing guidelines.
"When considering the development of the new guidelines, we thoroughly consider various factors such as sensitivity, etiquette, courtesy and the genuine wishes of the students," he commented in response to enquiries regarding the Cultural Activity Guidelines.
According to him, the guidelines for the university will be drawn up and prepared by inviting the SRC and other student leaders to contribute their input.
According to Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha, UUM demonstrates a high level of awareness and provides full support for the implementation of the organisation of student activities on campus, which includes entertainment.
"The university consistently organises engagement sessions with SRC and JKPS to discuss, develop and refine guidelines that are suitable for cultural performances at UUM.
"We will once again convene with the SRC and other student leaders to collaboratively draw up suitable guidelines to prevent undesirable incidents on campus where students can both feel safe and enjoy the various forms of entertainment.
"Our goal is to fulfil the needs of the majority of students and provide the type of entertainment they desire," he said.
